Our new veggie gardens have been built and are feeding us copiously of late!
I tiled our teeny tiny en suite bathroom. The tile had been sitting in it for 6 1/2 years! Not sure what my original intention was when I bought the tile but this is the pattern I ended up with!
We have ripped up our driveway, brought in fill and also set fence posts for a new fence all around our property. This fence is seriously the very bane of my existence currently! There have been more barriers to completion of this project than Carter has pills...seriously. It WILL be lovely, ... if it ever gets done.
My little guy had his Kindergarten orientation! Woot....he is going to school in Fall...all day, every day. 6 hours a day ME time! Seriously, he is an amazing dude and he is ready too...really he is, it is not just me ;)
The weather has been lovely. Unless, of course, we had set aside time to bang out the fore mentioned fence. Then, it is thundering, bucketing rain...lots and lots of rain making fencing impossible. But, yep, a lovely summer otherwise :) <grrr>
So those are just but a few of the things keeping me out of the studio. We also need an appraisal of the house. I have been running around finishing half completed projects, nagging hubby, and painting scuffs and trim like a mad woman. I do not know why I am putting so much into this but I am. I will be SO glad when it is done, and that should have been today but it is not.
Aside from rain, life also got in the way of fencing this past weekend when our little man got quite ill. We took him to hospital because of excruciating pain...as in the windows were open and I was stunned there was not a bevy of police cars arriving at my door lights and sirens blazing to the scene of the crime...type of pain. He was transferred out to the large regional hospital where we eventually found out he was one of five children in similar circumstances over the past week and that it was a viral cause and given a week he should be well again with no permanent damage. What more can a parent ask for? Just a couple dozen LESS loads of laundry from the illness...yea, that would have been ok in my world but I am happy he will be well once we get through all this.
Yesterday as he lounged like a king healing, I cleaned the studio area and had a sudden longing to sew. I dared not start something however....all those doors and trim STILL need to be painted. Maybe next week. I am hoping the exorcist will have exited by Friday and I will have all remaining germs eradicated and the lingering smell of puke will not degrade my house value by then. I should be able to let the appraiser in the house by Friday right?
I was just surfing and came across something neat!So this morning we are all feeling generally like lunch meat. It was a rough night. I have several more loads of laundry to do. We will say no more.

I so VERY MUCH need this! I want to sew...sew like the wind. Being in business and sewing for others all the time has left my own kids on the back burner. What an opportunity while I am on a business hiatus to take some time for my own family as well as do some testing for the new business! DING DING DING! This is IT!!! I have signed up...you should too if you have kids! My mind is now whirring about what fabrics and patterns I want to make. It would be so AWESOME to get a jump on a handmade back to school wardrobe for BOTH...yes BOTH little kids!!
Izzy needs dresses and skirts. She is still girlie (thank goodness). I do believe I have a couple of top patterns as well. She has her eye on a couple maxi dresses, a high low dress and anything else cute.
Ben, he has grown like a weed...again! He is pretty much the same size as his sister now and only a few pounds separate them but their builds are very different. Some button shirts, simple pants and he has had a fondness for ties of late so there will be a few of those too. Boxers, jammies...there is no limit on the variety of clothes the boy is in need of.
So the week of the 15th to 21 I plan to hide in the studio and sew for my little darlings. I will do some updates through the week of progress and hopefully narrow down and post goals by this coming weekend.
Do you participate in any sew alongs or challenges? I would love some links if you do!
