Geography has no borders.

The news has been filled with images of devastation from the tornado events of Oklahoma. The before and after images are truly surreal.

Devastation.
War zone.
Apocalyptic.
Devoid.
Scarred.

All of these are words that describe the land. But what of the people? The families that no longer have homes. Family pets that have been lost. The parents who lost children. The children who lost parents. These are the things that break me. The children especially...yes, the children.

I live many thousands of miles away but I still ache for all these people. Luckily through social media and the community of sewists, I am connected to people who are much much closer to this event.

I am going to be participating in two different events in the next couple of weeks to directly benefit the people of Oklahoma. The first is an auction to raise funds that will be sent to the United Way. This event is being held by Create Couture, a pattern maker, on their Facebook page in the coming days. The second event is being hosted by Pattern Revolution a conglomeration of pattern designers who have all put up free clothing patterns and are collecting finished items which will be sent to one of the designers who lives very close to the devastation for distribution.

You can find the buttons to both of these groups on my participating in side bar and please, if it is in your heart join me in making a small difference in a child's life right now. I will be happy to share any details you may need.

Keeping Oklahoma in my heart.
