Spring Bursts Forward

It has been quiet on the blog the past couple of weeks. Life has seemed to go at warp speed during that time however. We seem to have had (hopefully) the last of our snow just one short week ago. This past Saturday the thermo reached a sweltering 32C!! Craziness I tell you, but VERY welcome craziness. It had been a long winter, perhaps we are being rewarded with summer right off the start.

This past weekend I took a last minute booking to a trade show in McKenzie BC with the BB Butts product line. It was a good event, the Chamber of Commerce there treated me like gold and the people were very warm. As I sat there and chatted with customers I could not help but imagine being there with what I envision to be my Nechako Notionary line...how the booth would look, an expanded customer base ... so many positive thoughts.

This week I am working outside quite a bit. I hope to have the square foot garden boxes built this week and get a load of topsoil in. I have been planning out the new landscaping in the front of the house. Several root perennials have been purchased and I am just waiting for the nursery to get in its shrubbery order. There will soon be a post on the transformation of the gardens.

The seeds that I have started are all flourishing! The windowsills are full of solo cups filled with tomatoes, basil, cilantro, peppers and much, much more. we love salsa and this year, I hope to grow it!!

Outside, the trees have a flush of green and are just waiting to burst open with the chartreuse green of new leaves. This sun and warmth is making fast work of the new life of spring.

On the cooking front, this week I plan to make a few pans of Butter Chicken Lasagna. I will be taking photos and blogging about it later. This stuff is to.die.for! It was on Recipes to Riches last season and won if I recall right. The kids love this very flavorful dish.

Sewing has slipped down the list this past week with the weather SO LOVELY. I am awaiting some AMAZING shipments however and I am vowing to get into them the day they arrive!! Can you say gradient Rainbow knit? grey matters? I am also going to be starting work on a series of projects that I am making to take on my trip to Vegas for Fabric fest..the ideas are swirling in my head

Next week hubby is away. I do enjoy the time with the kids. We kick back, eat simple and go with the flow. My only "big" commitment next week is as project lead teaching a school full of children (and staff) to grow their own food. It is an extension to my commitment and a portion of my original proposal to our Farm to School program. What can go wrong with 300 milk jugs, a truck load of dirt, and a school full of little people?

So there is a "check in" post. So many things in the works, so many reasons to smile. Please feel free to share yours in the comments.
